On  Wednesday the 4th June Boydita Flowers Delivered was proud to be sponsors of The boss Buys Breaky or Lunch, which was held at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal.

Boydita Flowers Delivered supplied Professionally hancrafted table displays presented in a ceramic containers featuring Singapore Orchids, Asters , Thryptomene and Virburnum Foliage which were placed on the tables then sold with all the proceeds going to The Central Coast Community Chest.

Along with the Rose, Lily and Orchid the tulip can be considered a truly iconic flower. Its long colourful history, combined with its perennial popularity lift the Tulip into a class of their own. With the growing of tulips in cooled glass houses and forced into flower out of season they have become the second most popular flower in the Dutch auction system.

There are about 100 Tulip species, but the ones used as cut flowers today have been all specifically bred for that purpose. Tulips can be found in every colour except blue or black although some of the dark purple cultivars can look very close to black.

When Buying Look for:

* Flowers that are not fully open and buds that show colour

* White and Pale Yellow varieties can be brought when buds are green

* Strong stems that easily hold the flower heads

What to do

* Keep cool wherever possible

* Re cut at least 2cm off each stem with sharp scissors

* Never bash or split stems

* Tulip stems continue to grow towards the light in the vase, which can result in twisted stems.

* The name Tulip comes from the Turkish word “dulband” meaning “turban”

* The Tulip is the national flower of Iran and Turkey and tulip motifs feature predominately in Persian and Turkish  folk atrs. It is also considered the unoffical emblem of The Netherlands.

* In the language of Flowers a Tulip of any colour means “Perfect Lover” while red tulip means love.
