Flower Doctor: Hyacinth

It’s the Flower Doctor here … and this month’s featured flower is the Hyacinth Hyacinth is a mass of small bell shaped, perfumed flowers which make up the hyacinth spike. Like most spikes flowers open from the bottom up. Hyacinths are a very popular winter bulb flower, possibly due to their distinctive scent. They are most commonly found in white, blue, pink or yellow. Botanical Name: Hyacinthus orientalis Common Name: Hyacinth Available Colours: Blue, Pink, Crimson, White and Yellow Flower Care: - Keep cool at all times - Re-cut at least 2cm off each stem with sharp secateurs and place in water immediately - Misting is not recommended as this can cause rotting - Never place hyacinths near a heat source.
