It’s the flower doctor here. Lilies are often considered one of the most beautiful flowers available. However there is one major drawback which sometimes puts people off – those annoying pollen stains!
What can you do to prevent lily pollen getting onto your clothes?
A very simple way to avoid stains when arranging the flowers in a vase it so immediately remove the anthers from the open flowers and continue to do so as the buds open.
If lily pollen gets on your clothes do not brush or rub the pollen away with your hand. The human skin contains oily components that will set the stains. Let the pollen dry and then remove it with a soft brush.
Another method is using a piece of adhesive tape – simply dab it on the clothes until the stain has disappeared.
You can also use a vacuum cleaner to remove the stains.
If parts of the stain still remain, hang the clothing in sunlight, after a couple of hours the stain will disappear.
